The Middle East is the most water-scarce region in the world. While some water resource infrastructure exists, effectiveness of water governance and management has often lagged. Poor resource management as well as a lack of capacity and institutional integrity undermine water governance and lead to conflicts at different levels.

To change this, the project combines three strategic areas of intervention: It develops a media strategy to help build awareness around water resources, it provides capacity building for 60 journalists from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Turkey and Syria, and it provides an online platform as a key water information source for the public. The project is financed by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
