In contrast to the common assumption that media use in Iraq follows strictly ethno-sectarian patterns, the study reveals that most of the domestic TV channels reach both Shiite and Sunni target groups. The notion of cross-sectarian media usage is further strengthened by the fact that 75 percent of respondents indicate that they regularly use two or more sources to obtain information about Iraqi domestic politics, while almost 60 percent say they regularly compare news from stations representing different political constituencies.
