SUDAN VOTES MUSIC HOPES release party
On the 8th of April, MICT celebrated the release of our first music sampler, SUDAN VOTES MUSIC HOPES, at the Koch Oberhuber Wolff gallery in Berlin Mitte. Experts and artists offered an insight into Sudanese politics and culture. The debate was accompanied by screenings of films and music videos from Sudan. The Sudanese singer Alsarah will performed an exclusive live concert.

Sudan-Event at the Bundestag
MICT co-organised a discussion forum with German members of parliament on January 7th, 2010, about the future of Sudan. The panelists included former Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Kerstin Müller and Rolf Nikel, Deputy Director for Foreign Affairs in the Office of the German Chancellor. Germany's prime expert on Sudan, Marina Peter, delivered the keynote speech to an audience of more than 100.

Lecture: Sudan Votes - Media as a Mediator?
MICT was glad to present 'Sudan Votes - Media as a Mediator?', a discussion about the state of the media landscape in Sudan as the country prepares for elections for the first time in over twenty years. The guest speakers were Faisal Mohamed Saleh and Roman Deckert. This event was realised by MICT with the kind support of the Koch-Oberhuber-Wolff gallery and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.

Topic: Fragile freedoms - Iraq's media landscape
On the occasion of the Transmediale art festival MICT invited Iraqi journalists and writers to Berlin to discuss the role of Iraqi and foreign media in the political development of Iraq. The panel, "Fragile freedoms - Iraq's media landscape", included Ali Badar (Iraqi writer), Susanne Fischer (IWPR), Saad Salloum (Al-Mashriq) and Ismail Zayer (Al-Sabah al-Jadid), and was organized and moderated by MICT.

On the occasion of the Iraqi parliamentary elections, on 31 January 2005, MICT invited eight Middle East experts to a debate on the political process in Iraq, the elections within the context of political tensions, and the election results. The panel, which was held before an audience of 350 guests, was moderated by Michael Lüders and included Susanne Fischer (IWPR), Henner Fürtig (GIGA Institute), Aktham Sulaiman (Al Jazeera), Nesrine Shibib (MICT), Hassan Hussein (Deutsche Welle) and Ala Hussein Al-Hashimi (Iraqi ambassador to Germany).
The discussion was held within the framework of a four-hour live radio show, broadcasted from Iraq, on the vote counting in the country and the immediate impact of the election, which the audience in Berlin could listen to via headphones either in the Arabic original or simultaneously translated into German. A bilingual ticker, projected at a big screen, provided the latest news sent to Berlin by MICT's correspondents and election observers in Iraq.
Radio Conference

On 15 August 2005 a conference on Radio Broadcasting was held in Amman to which MICT invited representatives and directors of 22 Iraqi radio stations. The purpose of the conference was to network with Iraqi radio stations, to find ways of future cooperation and to discuss challenges and difficulties that radio Broadcasters face in Iraq. As a result of the conference, all 22 radio stations agreed on cooperation within the framework of the Radio Network Agency (RRN) and to sign a Professional Code of Ethics that binds those stations to the commitment to independent and professional journalism.
